I'm surprised the mantis' limbs weren't torn off.

I'm sad and happy for the bird at the same time. Impaled by a bug: what a way to go!

I once found a dead hummingbird in my room. It was mummified (it's dry in Bakersfield). I deduced that it must've flown into the house through the open front door (the weather is good in Bakersfield sometimes, so my parents would just leave the door open and forget about it). It must've made its way into my room, found no way out, and starved to death. I didn't find it right away 'cause I was living in New York, and I figured my parents didn't spend much time in my old room and thus never found it themselves.

I kept it exactly where I found it for a few years (bookshelf), until my parents moved out of America. Now its a mummified hummingbird in a landfill somewhere :,(
