Drink Tank

Extra Aqua Vitae Nulla Salus

Yea Right

Bush's choice of "Alexander II" appears to reflect his interest in books about transformational political leaders. Among those he has perused since becoming president are biographies of George Washington, John Adams, Alexander Hamilton, Theodore Roosevelt, Richard the Lionheart and Peter the Great.

quick drinktank poll: how many of the books mentioned in this fluff peice do you think bush has finished?

I think someone noticed last year that he carried the same Tom Wolfe airplane novel to photo ops for about 8 months.

I find this more plausible: that his failures on every single issue important to him (fighting terror, ending government entitlements, using spiritual enlightenment to stop drinking, etc.) are driving him insane and leaving no time for reading. Notice hedgeword "perused" in original post. I think that can be taken as reporting that he hasn't finished a single one. 2000 campaign joke: "Bill Clinton wrote a book at Yale. I read one."
